JBSE Consulting Engineers Ltd
Building services engineering, grounded in site experience
JBSE Consulting Engineers Ltd is an independent building services engineering consultancy providing mechanical and electrical design, technical advice and project support across a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. The practice is newly established and backed by more than twenty years' experience in M&E and building services engineering.
What sets the practice apart is a time-served, practical electrical background gained before moving into consultancy. That combination of detailed engineering knowledge and real-world construction experience produces designs that are compliant and genuinely buildable, identifies site issues early, and keeps the advice clear and commercially focused.

Designed to the standards your project is judged against
Every design is developed against the current regulations, codes and guidance for the discipline, so schemes stand up to building control, principal contractor and client review.

Four disciplines, coordinated under one consultancy
Mechanical, electrical, public health and EV charging design delivered as a coordinated package, from concept and feasibility through to tender information and construction-stage support.
Engineering knowledge with the site experience behind it.
Building services succeed or fail on the detail — whether the plant fits, the routes coordinate, the loads have been assessed properly and the design can be installed within programme. Two decades in M&E, starting on the tools and moving into consultancy, means those questions are answered before the drawings are issued rather than raised as RFIs afterwards.
About JBSEPractical, buildable designs
Every package is drawn with installation in mind — routes, access, plant space and tolerances resolved on paper so the design can be built as issued.
Real-world construction insight
A time-served electrical background before consultancy means designs reflect how work is actually carried out on site, not just how it looks on a drawing.
Early risk identification
Clashes, capacity shortfalls and compliance gaps are flagged at design stage, where they cost hours to fix rather than weeks during construction.
Clear, commercially focused advice
Straightforward technical advice framed around programme, cost and risk, so clients and contractors can make decisions quickly and with confidence.
Compliant on paper, and buildable on site
A design is only finished when it can be installed as drawn. Every package is developed against the applicable standards and then tested against site reality — access, routes, tolerances and the order the trades will actually work in — so problems are resolved at design stage rather than during construction.
Designed to the governing standards
Electrical design to BS 7671 and the relevant BS EN standards, mechanical and public health design to CIBSE Guides and the Building Regulations, with manufacturer and DNO requirements coordinated alongside.
Calculated, not assumed
Load assessments, cable sizing, protection and discrimination, ventilation and heat-loss calculations are worked through and recorded, so every sizing decision on a drawing can be traced back to the figure behind it.
Checked against how it will be built
Designs are reviewed for buildability, plant access, service routes and coordination between disciplines before they go out, which is where a time-served installation background earns its keep.
Building services design and technical support, end to end
Sectors we work across
Building services design for new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes, nationwide.
