What we deliver

Water and drainage designed for the demand it will actually see

JBSE Consulting Engineers provides full public health engineering design across commercial, residential, industrial and public-sector projects. That covers hot and cold water services, storage and distribution, above-ground foul and rainwater drainage, sanitary provision and the associated plant, together with the calculations, drawings and specifications needed to procure and install them.

Systems are sized on assessed occupancy, appliance loading and simultaneous demand rather than generic allowances, because undersized services cause performance complaints and oversized ones waste capital, space and — where water sits stagnant — create a hygiene risk. Water temperature control, turnover and dead-leg avoidance are considered as part of the design, not left to the commissioning stage.

Practical site experience shapes the detail: gradients and falls that can genuinely be achieved, riser and ceiling void space agreed with the other disciplines, access for maintenance and cleaning, and connection points coordinated with the structure and the below-ground drainage. The result is a package a contractor can install as drawn.

Full scope

Complete public health engineering capabilities

Every element of the public health package, from incoming water supply through to drainage and plant selection — grouped by the part of the system each belongs to.

Water supply

  • Hot & cold water services

Distribution designed on calculated demand, with pipe sizing, pressure, temperature control and hygiene provisions built into the design.

  • Water storage & distribution

Storage capacity, turnover, boosting and distribution arrangements sized for the building's occupancy and resilience requirements.

Drainage & sanitary

  • Above-ground foul & rainwater drainage

Soil, waste, vent and rainwater systems designed to Part H and the relevant BS EN standards, with achievable falls and coordinated routes.

  • Sanitary systems

Sanitary provision and appliance layouts designed for the occupancy and use, coordinated with the architectural and accessibility requirements.

Plant & equipment

  • Public health plant & equipment

Selection and specification of pumps, boosters, water heaters, calorifiers, tanks and treatment plant, with space, access and maintenance resolved on the drawings.

Standards & compliance

Designed to the regulations your services are signed off against

Public health designs are developed to the Building Regulations — notably Part G for water efficiency and hot water safety and Part H for drainage — alongside CIBSE guidance and the relevant BS EN standards. Water hygiene and legionella control are considered through storage sizing, turnover, temperature regimes and dead-leg avoidance. The public health design is developed in step with the mechanical and electrical packages so heat sources, pump supplies, controls, riser space and builder's work are agreed rather than assumed.
